KIND TO YOUR SKIN

Following the ayurvedic principles, Kama Ayurveda’s formulations offer long-term solutions targeting the causes of their visible disbalance while respecting the natural skin equilibrium.
The products contain superior quality, plant-based active ingredients that are ethically and sustainably sourced. Most products are enriched with a high level of natural-origin ingredients going up to 100% on our pure ayurvedic oils.

In addition, everything we do follows a very strict formulation charter excluding controversial ingredients such as phthalates, PEGs, parabens, silicones, sulfates, mineral oil, plastic microbeads, and artificial fragrances. We base our formulation guidelines on the constantly evolving scientific research on cosmetic ingredient safety.

Finally, each formula undergoes a comprehensive testing through independent clinical trials
both in vivo and in vitro, under strict dermatological control even on sensitive skin, ensuring proven safety and efficacy.

KIND TO OUR PLANET

KIND TO OUR PLANET

The codified science of Ayurvedic sees all of us as planet-beings - all made of the same fundamental elements as the planet itself. That’s why we aim to reduce the impact of our products lifecycle on the planet:

 • The forest communities, small-scale farmers, and artisans we work with live in harmony with their environment. Our natural ingredients are harvested following natural cycles as per the principles of {dravyasangarhanavidhi} ensures that the high-quality ingredients used will be of the highest quality while minimizing the impact on biodiversity. Our thoughtful selection process evaluates the safety, sourcing, sustainability and environmental impact of each ingredient.
 • Our products are developed considering their packaging recyclability impact: privileging as much as possible recyclable material as glass and recycled materials as for example we only use 100% post-industrial recycled and recyclable paper boxes (FSC certified) and 100% PCR recycled and recyclable plastic bottles reducing the impact on landfills. Read more about our recycled packaging.
 • Our labels are 100% recycled from mine waste and recyclable after separation from
the packaging.
 • All products are manufactured in a green production facility, nestled in Palladam, south of India, the heart of Ayurveda. With a significant green cover around the factory, we use green energy via solar panels and monitor water consumption with rainwater harvesting and other waste management solutions. by next year our goal is to use 100% renewable, green, sustainable energy at our manufacturing facility.

KIND TO YOU

KIND TO YOU

Through our complimentary doctor consultations and our dosha quiz, Kama Ayurveda
offers a complete holistic understanding of one’s health and well-being. Thanks to our beauty
and well-being rituals, including self oil-healing massages and healthy living frameworks
(yoga meditation and food), Kama Ayurveda helps you to nurture the balance between mind,
body and soul achieving {rasayana} the peaceful state that creates this natural healthy
glow from the inside out.

We work with Prabhat, an NGO dedicated to the educational and vocational empowerment of differently-abled children and young adults. Every year Kama Ayurveda partners with Prabhat
to promote a skin-safe Holi (the Indian festival of colours) by supporting their avacayam
(Sanskrit for flower gathering) programme. The programme produces 100% natural,
chemical-free colours by recycling unused and discarded temple flowers. The flowers are
collected by differently-abled individuals, and processed and packaged by hand.

Other ancillary products are sourced directly from artisans, helping these local craftspeople sustain higher profits. For example, in 2015 we featured unique leaf-shaped brass diyas that
were specifically designed for Kama Ayurveda by a fourth generation artisan from Odisha.
It is a testament to the skill and excellence prevalent in all parts of India – excellence that
Kama Ayurveda is keen to showcase and support.

Key merchandising elements of our stores are sourced from NGOs working towards causes in line with our beliefs. Dhanwantari, the God representing the wisdom of Ayurveda, is honoured
in our stores with statues that are handcrafted and sourced from Kumbakonam in Kerala.
We work with 10 families practising the classical Indian tradition of sculpture to create our authentic, beautiful statues. Our stores also have cane shopping baskets and planters.
These are handcrafted by an NGO that supports women from Manipur, with the aim
of making them financially independent.
