The Ayurvedic secret to healthy hair is a simple head massage with Mahabhringraj oil (or a Bhringraj herb-infused oil).

Bhringraj is a centuries-old Ayurvedic herb whose oil is the most beneficial for boosting hair health. In this article, let us learn about Mahabhringraj oil and its benefits for hair.

What is Mahabhringraj or Bhringraj hair oil?

Mahabhringraj oil or Bhringraj Oil is considered Keshraj (king of the hair). It is a herbal oil made from the leaves of Bhringraj cultivated in humid tropical regions like India, China, and Thailand. There are three varieties of the Bhringraj plant -

  • Shweta Bhringraj – yields White Flowers
  • Peet Bhringraj – yields Yellow Flowers
  • Neel Bhringraj – yields Blue Flowers

Although all these varieties are used for oil production, the most popular one is Shwetha Bhringraj.

Mahabhringraj oil, whose botanical name is Eclipta Alba, has special significance in Ayurveda and medical science. It helps balance the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) in the body. Mahabhringraj oil is normally accessible in various sets of formulations.

Bhringraj oil is a powerhouse of antioxidants, vitamins, proteins, and nutrients such as magnesium, vitamin D, and iron. These make the oil a penultimate remedy for hair loss. (1)

Mahabhringraj offers the most satisfactory nourishment to your hair scalp and boosts hair strength, offering hair a great shine, luster, and softness. Besides, it's also an effective treatment to manage & prevent premature greying and hair loss.
